Vung Dat Hua
The Promised Land is a SATB bilingual choral work that tells the story of the immigrant experience in Vietnamese and English, reflecting the journey from homeland to new beginnings.
Rooted in personal memory, the piece explores hope, freedom, and opportunity alongside the enduring ache of homesickness and distance from family. Drawing on Vietnamese cultural imagery and lived experience, it gives voice to stories often left unheard in choral literature. Written with choirs and music educators in mind, The Promised Land offers an opportunity to represent immigrant communities and help students feel seen, valued, and connected through music.
