Que toi (My home village) was originally performed by soprano Thuy Chi, a voice professor at The National Conservatory of Music in Ha Noi, this song depicts an about the image of a Vietnamese childhood. I chose this particular piece to do the work because it's also a childhood that I experienced. These were the memories that were close to my heart where the children were flying kites behind the bamboo bush, the father working out on the fields and the mother’s lullaby. Through this song, I hope to bring you back in time to experience what a typical day in my village would look like, beginning from dawn going out to the field with the fathers and ending the day with mother’s lullaby.
