I am a composer, music educator, and performer based in the Roseville–Sacramento/Bay Area.
As a composer, I am actively involved in creating music that reflects my Vietnamese cultural heritage. My published Vietnamese choral piece Về nghe mẹ ru, distributed through JW Pepper, premiered at the Southern California Vocal Association (SCVA) Festival and has been performed at the California Music Educator Association (CMEA) Bay Section, along with choir concerts throughout California. My second publication is titled Vùng đất hứa (The Promised Land). My upcoming big project is a commission for La Quinta High School, funded by the CCDA Choral Equity Grant in partnership with La Quinta High School. My early choral arrangement of Quê tôi, a Vietnamese folk song, has been featured by American River College Concert Choir and Sonoma State's premiere ensemble, SonoVoce, in concerts.
As a music educator, I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in Choral Music Education from Sonoma State University and am currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Music Education at San Jose State University. I earned my Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music (K–12) with English Learner Authorization from Sonoma State University and student taught at Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa. My mentors are Gail Bowers from MCHS and Jenny Bent from SSU. I am currently teaching 4th grade general music and 5th-7th grade choirs at the Folsom Cordova Unified School District in the greater Sacramento area.
As a vocalist, I am actively performing in solo works, events, and in ensembles throughout the Sacramento and Bay Area. My solo works range from Vietnamese traditional & contemporary singing and musical theater, to classical repertoire. My ensemble background includes being a member of SonoVoce, along with extensive experience in choral, chamber, large orchestra works, and community ensembles across Northern California.
